Katana Shirasaya Bushido, Sora - Sharpened

The Katana is a Japanese sword used by the samurai.

This Shirasaya is made by a traditional forge specialized in the creation of high quality Japanese weapons with an exclusive design.

When a blade was not mounted as a Katana (in times of peace or when the Katana had suffered damage), it was protected by a conservation scabbard (Saya) (Shira). The shirasaya mounting is therefore not intended for use as a combat weapon.

This Shirasaya has a sharpened blade, a lacquered handle, a golden habaki and a beautiful white lacquered wooden scabbard (Saya) with cloud patterns.

Medium carbon 1045 steel (0.45% carbon) blades have a relatively flexible blade, ideal for cutting practice and can take heavy blows without breaking. However, the blade dulls more quickly compared to a high carbon 1065 steel (0.65% carbon).

The 1045 steel is the most common steel used in cutlery because it is a good compromise between hardness and flexibility and is easily sharpened. Do not forget to take care of your weapon by oiling the blade to avoid rust.

"Sora" means "Sky" in Japanese.
