Royal Arsenal Han Dao

The LK Chen Forge:

This Broadsword was forged by LK Chen, a forge that specializes in the recreation of ancient Chinese weapons featuring authentic dimensions, weight, balance and handling.

LK Chen weapons are all designed for cutting purpose. You can train cutting with rice straw mats or bamboo targets.

History of the Han Broadsword:

Created around 100 BC, the Han Dao is the ancestor of all Chinese Dao.
Its classic design became the standard for the next 800 years.  Representing the best steel blade available at the time, it was one of the best weapons to have on the battlefield.  The Dao Han was created based on the superior steel production technology of the Han military machine to meet the existential threat posed by the expert horsemen of the northern tribes.

The Royal Arsenal Han Broasword:

The Royal Arsenal Infantry Han Dao is a high fidelity recreation of a Han Dao infantry Broadsword as discovered in the Royal Arsenal at Chang An.

It is a beautiful, sophisticated and elegant piece to add to your Han sword collection.

The Royal Arsenal Dao has the classic round pommel ring and a subtle inward curve to the blade, with a slight outward curve change right at the tip.
A shallow groove runs the length of the blade, making the Dao even lighter and faster. This gutter creates a beautiful reflection of light depending on the viewing angle.

The Royal Arsenal has a thick full tang and a solid wood handle, beautifully wrapped in a silk cord.

The blade is made of Damascus steel (laminated steel) in 1060 Carbon steel (Medium / High carbon steel) reinforced with tungsten-vanadium T8 (anti-rust property). The medium carbon steel is a good compromise between the rigidity and flexibility of the blade. The blade does not break easily but still has sufficient hardness for cutting.

The fitting, finishing and final assembly of the sword is meticulously done by the experienced master craftsmen of LK Chen Forge. It takes a professional craftsman a full day to assemble a broadsword of this type with precision.
