It has a straight sharp blade (Maru) with a central fuller (Bohi), a black and white braided handle (Tsuka) decorated inside with a Komainu (Lion Guardian from Japanese culture), a black honeycombed guard (Tsuba) and a magnificent black lacquered wooden scabbard (Saya).
