Straight saber, Chokutō - Dragons, ShenLong

The chokutō is one of the earliest in the history of Japanese sabers.
The special feature of the chokutō is the straight blade, similar to ancient swords found in the Three Kingdoms period of China.
Its particular shape, using a well-recognized design technique, qualifies as "kiriha zukuri".
Its blade is straight with 2 grooves, almost flat and has a ridge running along the edge.

Gradually abandoned for katanas or other curved blades such as the "Tachi" (cavalry weapon with a curved blade of about 70 cm) during the domination of the Mongolian empire, this shape is only found on ancient swords. Curved blades demonstrate greater ease of handling and lethality in mounted combat, while the chokutō relies on the weight of the blade in execution rather than thrusting attacks.

The hilt of this saber is surrounded by a thin black waxed cotton cord.
It is sublimated by a pommel and a guard finely decorated with petal and meander patterns.

Its black scabbard is covered with a thin layer of quilted imitation leather and decorated with 3 ornamental parts with dragons spitting their flames. It is, as it should be, embellished with a rope and two tassels with brown beads, hanging on their dragon-shaped "kurigata".

This saber comes with its storage box.
In order for you to preserve it for years, we recommend that you bring a blade maintenance kit, a sharpening stone and a carrying case.
