Chang Quan Outfit – Embroidered, Green Dragon
This outfit is inspired by the traditional dress codes associated with Chinese martial arts, particularly Kung Fu and Wushu.
It features several characteristic elements of these outfits: a straight Mandarin-style collar, fastening with Chinese ‘frog’ buttons (pankou), a supple jacket and loose-fitting trousers that allow for freedom of movement.
These sartorial conventions are now widely incorporated into Wushu training, demonstration and competition outfits.
The outfit stands out for its black fabric accented with green trim and for the dragon motifs embroidered on the jacket and trousers. The dragon holds an important place in Chinese iconography and has, depending on the historical context, been associated with power, protection and auspicious symbolism.
Its particularly intricate design makes this outfit suitable for both the practice of Chinese martial arts and for demonstrations, performances and cultural events.
