British Submachine Gun, Metal - Sten MK.II Replica
This submachine gun was created by Great Britain during the 1940s, when it was isolated and threatened by the imminent invasion of Germany. The name STEN is an acronym derived from the names of its main designers: Mayor Reginald Shepherd, Harold Turpin and Enfield Arsenal.
At that time, it was necessary to equip the troops with weapons of own production, in order to limit costs. Thus was born the Sten Mark II machine gun, a weapon with a questionable design but quite reliable effectiveness. It was also one of the most recognizable weapons of WWII. It will even end up being used by air troops and special operations forces in almost all countries occupied by German soldiers.
The Sten machine gun used a 9mm x 19 canister barrel, which presented an opportunity if German ammunition was captured, as it could also be used.
Despite its simplicity and rather low quality linked to its low production cost, the Sten was quite small and could easily be concealed, which made this weapon a very popular ideal weapon for partisan operations in Europe.
About four million different versions of Sten were produced throughout the 1940s.
