Prestige Sword, Light Cavalry - US 1860, Forge LK Chen
This prestigious reproduction is an iconic symbol of the American Civil War, the US Model 1860 light cavalry saber is a long steel and brass weapon, used by both Union and Confederate cavalrymen.
The 1860 saber was named to distinguish it from the larger, heavier Model 1840 heavy cavalry saber it replaced. Like its predecessor, the M1840, it featured a brass guard, leather-covered hilt and steel scabbard, but unlike the M1840, it was smaller and easier to handle. M1860s were carried not only by cavalry, but also by many infantry and staff officers.
This saber was created after a long and detailed study of an old "Emerson and Silver" saber from 1864.
