Southern Lion Dance Costum «Shan Xue»

Shan Xue Wu Shi

This costum is manufactured in Guangdong province, not far from Guangzhou by a family of artisans who practice this activity for several generations now. It is an upper range costume, very polished with beautiful finishes and attention to detail. This kind of costum traditionaly comes from Southern China and lion dance is mainly executed during Chinese new year (sspring festival), but also at popular or private events or ceremonies.

It is made up of 6 parts: the head, the "cloak" (satin fabric), two trousers, and two pairs of slippers.
- Sized for two adults persons.
- Framework made of wood and bamboo, decoration made of proceesed and colored wool.
- Hear fur : white
- Other color on the head : green, golden and yellow
- Mantle : white fur on green cap with yellow trims.
- Pants and shoes : like the mantle.
