Simply open the knife by pushing with your finger on the metal tip and the blade deploys automatically.
It's a halfway between a manual and automatic opening mechanism.

It has a strap cutter, originally designed to cut the cords and straps of the fighters when it was necessary to quickly get rid of the parachute.
