The dobok has been the attire of the taekwondoist (the original term being taekwondoin) for over 100 years.
This traditional outfit has seen its name globalized and democratized into kimono to define the outfit adopted by the majority of martial arts practitioners. Originally, the term kimono was simply used to define someone's outfit. It was then developed into a wide range of clothing to best suit the different martial arts disciplines according to the movements performed (holds, dodges, ground work, jumps, etc.).
